Changes like these commonly confuse people:

The cutover between the 1999 model year and the 2000 model year was in the middle of 1999. However, end-of-production for any given run is likely to use some parts from the next generation just because they ran out.

The VIN reflects model year. A 1999 VIN may have a build date ranging from mid-'98 to mid-'99. Last month or so you run the chance of seeing parts otherwise unique to 2000+ on them.

 

Ya the 6th or 7th month tends to be the start of the new year for some vehicles.

 

So some will have hp and some lp?

 

Yes..... thats why I said it was a chance it could be a lp.

3.73's yes. 3.76's.....no

 

I've heard of 3.73 gears but not 3.76.

 

Maybe he means 3.73

 

Those came stock in XJs with a tow package.
