Default 96XJ- 99+ intake- APN header... Not cooperating

As the title states I'm currently trying to install this and the intake is hitting the header closest to the inside if the jeep. Has anyone encountered this? Does anyone have this same set up by chance that can shed some light?

Thanks Eric

Take a hammer to the runner or grind the intake.

I had my APN installed on my Late Build 99 Yesterday,

No grinding was needed, My buddy who installed it said he put it on, Then started the XJ The RPM's shot to the rev limiter and it had a vaccum leak with some quick diag by pouring water on the manifold while running he found the vacuum at the #1 & 2 runners . So he loosened the manifold, Wiggled it around a bit then started to tighten it down again. As he was tightening it down he heard a snap which was the manifold slipping in position over the dowel pin after inspecting with a mirror to make sure the manifold did not break . He started the Jeep and it was all good.

IF you have to grind the runners on the intake I read that you have to grind 1/8- 1/4 "

The intake manifold is most likely gonna need some filing where it touches the #6 exhaust port flange of the header. No biggie.

Water. LOL.

I try to avoid getting water in my engine, not pour it in my intake.

I think carb cleaner would have been a safer/ better choice.

Water's the method used in the FSM to find leaks. Less chance of fire and explosion.

Water used to be used by mechanics to clean the combustion chamber. It's perfectly safe in small amounts. Don't dump a bucket on it now...

That is correct, To clarify my buddy is a ASE CERT Master Mechanic he knows what he's doing . Other then myself he is the only person I trust working on my vehicles. I slowly poured a little water along where the intake and head mate to find the leak.

The way I took it, he was dumping a bucket of water on it. I've never heard of this method & it still seems like a weird concept.

The water will get sucked into the vacuum leak and lower the Rpm instantly then you know we're the leak is at. This method has been used since combustion engines have been around.

If that's the case, this should send you into orbit. I just did this last weekend and got rid of a P0301 CEL on my friend's 99:

I have heard of this meth head before, but you used trans. fluid instead of water to remove carbon build up.

Water is cheaper.

Ok guys I've been grinding and grinding for a while now! I don't want to take to much off, is there a how-to with pics on here? I even tried putting the stock intake manifold on and it wouldn't fit either? I'm kind of stuck here
