So I have ordered the 99 Durango steering gear and am also planing on upgrading the pump but I havent found anytihing for the 95, everyiting says ZJ pump upgrade but that only fits 96+ XJ.

Does anyone know if there is any upgrade for the 95 steering pump?

All of the steering pumps for the XJ and ZJ are the same physical size. The only thing that changes is the tank and pulley. Tanks interchange and I wouldn't recommend changing the composite pulley. It will just break. If necessary you can change the belt to another length if needed

So would it really be considered an upgrade if I go with the zj, would I get any improvements or would it be the same as the stock pump? I see there are a cuple pumps on amazon but those are for the wj not the zj.

The upgrade happens with the WJ, 02 and up I believe. The pulley is slightly smaller, making for a faster pump and it is a higher pressure on the relief valve, which is where most of the performance upgrade happens

Will the pump just bolt on? Shoul I just swap the pump and use the old xj reservoir?

The pumps are the same physically, so it bolts. You might need to swap reservoirs. It is not hard, just a couple of clips and O ring

The V8 WJ is supposed to be the better one. It will also have a small cooler attached.
I installed a I6 WJ pump on my '89 XJ a few yaars ago. To make it bolt up I ditched the old style belt tensioner & put on the newer style. I had to use about 10 small washer to act as a spacer. Pretty self explanatory once you get everyrhing in place.
I can get a pic tomorrow if needed.

Better late than never. Don't mind the WD40. Hood wouldn't open.

i was looking into this for my 96 ZJ, I did find an upgraded pump on Quadratech but it was pricy. I thought about simply changing the pully size to get better performance at the lower rpms, which is where we typically are while wheeling but did not pursue it.

I would like to see a picture of it and what did you get the bracket from?
