Default 90 4.0(Renix) intake

Hi everyone. I'm the newest new guy round here. I recently purchased a 90 Wagoneer(Limited). I am about to work on upgrading the intake system. Does anyone have any good ideas or info about a better intake manifold? I've been poking around for a while with plenty of results for 91+, but very little for my Renix.

TIA.

Keep your intake manifold. Add a 60mm throttle body from www.strokedjeep.com. Renix injectors are known to spray gas all over the engine compartment. Get the upgraded 4 disc ones from www.precisionautoinjectors.com.
Have your local muffler shop make you a new downpipe off the exhaust manifold without the "crush" like is in yours. If you have a 3" or better lift, they can route it like stock. If not, have them route it using two 45* bends instead staying away from the front driveshaft.

From my understanding we must swap the head as well because the ports do not match up with later years.

Yeah, they don't match a Renix head well. Some reports have shown as little as 3 HP increase with that manifold on an HO, and that's at high RPM. Give your Renix a chance and play with it. The HO was a marketing ploy by Chrysler that has hung around like an old wive's tale. Kinda like going blind from doing some things................

I'm not opposed to swapping heads if it's worth it. I'm not a huge fan of my 3 bolt throttle body either. I don't want to get crazy but I don't mind spending a few bucks on this Jeep. I plan to do some kind of cowl intake and a nicer exhaust. Would a newer head help me in the e exhaust department at all? I haven't looked into that too much yet.

95 specifically? Or any head 91-98? I know 99 head saw the smaller ports, but got the nicer intake.

I think he meant 4-hole, disk type injectors. A search shows a variety. Not sure which is the best.

Just seems to be the most sought after head. 96 and up they added alignment pins to the block for the head. I know on the block end you can't remove them to run an older head because there's a water jacket there, not sure about the head end. 91-95 was the 7120 casting, 96-98 is the 0630

You can have your REnix TB bored to 60mm which is larger than the HO TB by 2mm, and your manifold is already 60mm BTW. $90 from www.strokedjeep.com. The HO has higher horsepower only at higher RPMs, and not any more torque. Nothing wrong with your intake.

Thanks for the info guys. I will post back when I do the mod.

Also, there is a guy on here who is selling bored TB's for $55 shipped. Many people have purchased and been pleased. He also offers $18 for your core TB. Sadly I can't remember the thread/poster name.

A bored throttle body does not do any good if the throttle butterfly isn't increased in size. www.strokedjeep.com for TBs at $90 exchange.
www.precisionautoinjectors.com for the upgraded injectors.
