My shop is a Summit dealer, I can get the Cost price....
The complete Cam Kit for just lil over 200$
Rebuild kit is like 350-400 my cost depending on what I do...

Trick, one of the best moves you can make is have the piston measured how far down in the cylinder the piston rests at top dead center. Use this measurement to figure out how much of the deck surface can be removed to maximize your compression ratio. Compression=power. As for the valves, have the head reconditioned. That should include a valve job, new valve seals, and have the head milled to insure it is flat. IMHO.

How is your rebuild coming along? I too am rebuilding my 89 4.0 its in the shop right now getting bored out. Did you end up buying the comp cam set up? If so what were the results?

I ended up just buying an engine that was used but rebuilt 40k ago. I couldnt pass it up. 300$. All the machine work and parts I wanted was gona be over 1200$ so im gona run the one I bought and slowly build the one thats in it.

Yeah its gets super expensive! But its a jeep and they are money pits... Did you do any engine mods on it?

Picked up a header for it, gona do some slight porting just to clean things up and make flow a lil better. Im throwing in a set of main and rod bearings in it tonight and putting it together. Just for my peace of mind. Im running a TB spacer and with the header, spacer, fresher engine and 4.10s on 31s should do preaty good.
