Default 87 4.0 Rebuild

Well she got 306783 miles on her and 3 lbs oil psi at 1k rpm. Time for a rebuild. I want to do a cam and valve job on her as well. Any good sugestions on a mid range cam and valve options?

3 angle valve job?

What are you doing with the truck? Crawling where you need low end pull? Mud where high RPMs are used?

I would stick with a stock cam, or something with midrange power in mind.

Leave the valve train stock. AMC did one heck of a job getting a great compromise of power and economy out of this engine. Hard to improve on IMHO.

the 97+ dual pattern cam works very well, I'm sure cruiser will correct me if it will not work in your RENIX.

I haven't a clue actually. I'm going stock Renix cam and ditching the Comp cam and associated valve springs in my build. 26,000 miles and the lifters were shot, cam had chatter marks on it and the lower parts of the cam bearings were mushed out. For 15 HP and 15 lb/ft of torque sacrificed, I'll go back together with a stock cam.
