Default 8.25 axle shaft

looking for axle shafts to throw in while I’m doing my rear disc swap I just pick up.

Alloy usa shafts 4340 chromoly
yukon 1541H steel

little bit of of price diff not crazy. Jeep has a lunch box aussi locker and 4.56 gears with 35 inch tires. I’m thinkig the alloy due to being stronger but just seeing what people suggest.

Unfortunately there are no worth while axle shaft upgrades for an 8.25. Unlike D30 chromoly shafts that increase strength by "60%", the aftermarket shafts for 8.25s are only 25% stronger at best. Not worth the price imo. I would say just grab some stock shafts from a junkyard if you're worried. Issue comes down to the metal and how the bearings ride on the shaft instead how they would on non c clip axle shafts.

As long as they are the 29-spline flavor, 1541 should be fine. I also have them with 4.56, 35", and an ARB.

Wouldn't Dana 30 chromoly shafts render the ring gear 60% weaker?

I think yukon says 25% stronger and alloy says 35%

Stock 8.35 is fine with 35s, locked & beaten on.

USA standard has aftermarket shafts for the 8.25 also, and they are cheaper, but as said above the factory shafts are pretty durable.
