Default Axle Shaft to CV Shaft change

Does anyone know what year Grand Cherokee CV shafts will fit in a 1998 Cherokee Sport? It's Hella cheaper and freezing outside so I'm not overly interested in trying to change the ujoint. Plus in Michigan those rust in place so bad it's a real PITA to change them.

Does anyone who has done this have any opinions? It's a daily driver with 4wheel drive being used mostly on pavement in bad snow.

Thanks all.

Only one of mine is going bad. Passenger side only. Money's kinda tight. Will it screw it up to only do one? Driver side joint looks good still.

Also... why only 94?

Does spline count matter either? I'm pretty sure it's a dana 30.

I think he means 94 and newer,Yes its a dana 30 the zj is the same width but not sure on spline count since its low pinion and most xjs are high pinion.

Just ask for a shaft for a 94 and you'll be safe. Each is about $60, do both.

Advance has the wrong driver's side listed in store and on site......got to Autozone or NAPA.

Another bit of info for the cv joints. Look for a V8 Grand Cherokee. I worked on a 98 ZJ 4.0 and it had u-joints on the front.

Keep in mind that CV shafts are weaker but probably excellent behind a NP242.

Any year 93-98 should work (these are the ZJ years, so they share the same D30 for the most part with our XJ's, and the same d30 as TJ's.

All back together. Working fine. Here's the part I used for the passenger side. Got it from auto zone.
