Default 6.5 inch lift sitting on 35s

I'm wanting to lift my stock 99 cherokee classic (inline 6 4.0 manual tranny) 6.5 inches and throw some 35 inch all terrains on it.

Will I need to upgrade my gears to a larger ratio, buy a slip yoke eliminator, transfer case drop kit, and extended brake lines for it to function properly as an everyday driver with the occassional offroading?

If its a dd then I wouldn't put bigger than 33s on it but to do it properly you'll want gears don't exactly need them but you will need a sye (right way) or a tc drop(cheap route) and you'll need extended brake lines if the kit doesn't come with one

What he said. If it's the stick it has 3.07 gears which would be horrible with 35's, even on the street. I put 33's on mine with 3.07's before I regeared it and I could barely get going up a hill that was pretty steep. I now have 4.56's with the 33's and it spins pretty good on the freeway but it's great off-road.

Short answer, yes.

Its best not to cut corners. And dont listen to anyone telling you to daily drive on a smaller tire than you want.

You wamna daily drive on 35s, do it.

By all means you can DD on a 35 but if it your only vehicle itd be ideal to not go higher than 33s but i agree you can do whatever you wish

I completely agree. Definately dont cut corners and cause more problems for yourself. I would recommend getting an sye and new drive shaft and extended brake lines since you said you were wanting to do occasional offroading. Re-gearing your axles is not absolutely necessary but would be ideal. I personally have a 8" lift with 35's and stock gears. I dd it and offroad it. It runs fine but there is a very noticeable drain in the power trying to push it. I have run it for the last few years like this and has worked just fine but I am in the process of re-gearing it.

Get what you want dont settle and dont cut corners.

To do 6.5" of lift you will need quite a bit of other things. The brake lines need to be addressed a TC drop will not work with that much work nor is it advisable. 35's are also going to be hell on the stock axle's I would not recommend running a D35 with 35's. Gears wise 4.56-4.88's would be a good place to start.

Oh christ. Don't tell me this is another GC question your posting in the XJ section! Only asking because BOTH of you other posts say "lifting my Cherokee". Big difference..

I'm pretty sure no Grand Cherokee ever came with a manual trans.

Zjs could be had with a AX15 5 speed. But was short lived and autos were only option after that model.

true, very few, i believe it was 94-95 or 95-96 i believe they came with. but like you said short short lived which really sucks. cause nothing would be more fun then a grand cherokee with a 6speed behind the i6 hahaha
