You want a 'practical' daily driver, you shouldn't be driving a lifted 4x4 with oversize tires in the first place. Thats an oxymoron.

I ran 36s on my 6.5 inch lift with stock gears was a turd but it went fine just use lot of fuel. Im putting 38/10.50/15inch boggers on it now.with stock gears. I have a tc drop slip yoke elimanator and extended brake lines

I am running my 96XJ door on 35s too.
6.5" lift,,, C 8.25 with 4:10s with the 4 popper.
Did a couple things engine wise to help improve performance but it is still a 4 banger on 35s. My tires now are BFG KOs.
It cruises highway with no issues at 65 with minimal downshifting, except on mountain grades where even if it wasn't running 35s I would have to downshift.
It looks great and offroad it works well. I don't do hardcore anything anymore and on the beaches of Delaware it rocks. With a literal 4 foot footprint,,it rolls across the sand easily and looks good doing it.
4:56s are in the plans if I decide to keep the current engine but I am contemplating a Ford 5.0 HO swap. Either way it is a thousand dollar upgrade.
Just use your head,,,do your research and don't skimp when you buy parts. Most everyone here who replied I agree with in one way or another on the various issues you will encounter.
As far as fuel consumption, I did not put this rig together to get good fuel mileage. I did it to have a very capable and reliable Jeep based vehicle. But if you must know my mileage is in the 14 - 20 range depending on where I am and what I am doing.
Good luck and remember this is for YOU,,, so do what you want,,, if you do it "wrong" you will then take the time to do it "right".

have you even heard of freegdr? lol
yeah running bigger tires than 35's is just about the dumbest thing you can do. not only because your axles cannot handle it (actually, once you get into the 38" tire range you don't even have enough torque to break anything) but the constant weight cyclying back and forth will turn your uniframe into a wet noodle
there's no one I know who succesfully put on 36's+ and made it last longer than a year on a D30. unless it's a street queen
