you can go with 32s with a 3" no problem just trim a little and when I say a little do the normal cut and fold in the rear and cut to the bend in the front fender and you should be fine. I have, well, what I just explained to the other 2 ^^ and I have 35s under mine.

Also if you have the 3" lift and want to go 4.5" gotta get longer shocks and also recommend adj control arms track bar tc drop. Could do the 2" shackle in the rear but by the time you get everything else it will be more expensive than just buying the 4.5" x series kit

Depends...I'm running stock length control arms 2"tj lift shocks an adjustable tracbar and 5" in the front without issues...

It wouldnt neccesarily be "cheaper" to buy the entire 4.5" RC lift but in the long run might be a better way to go.

The cheapest way to go would be to buy 1.5" pucks for up front and 1.5" shackles in the rear. This would bring you up to 4.5"s for less then $150. Unless you have adjustable control arms, your front end might be a little sketchy.

You could buy the entire RC 4.5" lift then sell your rear leafs, control arms, and front coils to get some of your cash back. I think this really all depends on your budget.

Hope this helps

This is not necessarily true. You don't NEED a SYE with 4.5" of lift. I am running 6.5" of lift on a stock drive shaft and NO SYE with minimal driveline vibrations. Also you could use your 3" shocks, they would just limit your downward travel when flexing out. You could run these until you had enough money to buy new shocks. As for brake lines, you could modify your existing hard lines by bending them and relacating you brackets to keep the stock lines, but i would suggest buying extended lines. They are not too expensive.

Hope that helps.

In green: true you may not have vibrations but if you take away that abbreviation "SYE" and spell it out...SLIP YOLK eliminator. when your that tall and you flex it out enough the drive shaft could very well SLIP right off. Ive seen it done.
In red: true they WILL limit your downward travel and will damage your brand new shocks. now if your just driving it around and no offroading and not flexing it out, sure you can run these.

I did not know this could happen, altought know that you mention it, it does make sense. I do not worry about this because i really dont do anything crazy enough to worry about it yet. Although i do plan to do a SYE, i just dont like the idea of doing a Hack and Tap and thats pretty much my only option with a 242. I will be sure to mention this fact to anyone i may advise in the future. Thanks for the info.

Agree with your second statement. But again, as the OP has stated his rig is mainly DD so thats why i said, for now his shocks will hold up until he can afford new ones.
