Default 01 XJ Headers

Hello forum! I'm sure this has been asked several times, but I can't find any confirming information. Perhaps you guys can help!

Will the JBA 1527S headers fit on a CA 2001 XJ 4.0L? It has 2 pre-cats at the collector. The JBA website doesn't specifically list it as a fitted application, yet some retailers selling it say it does.

Any help would be great... including any pics of it installed too if you have it!

Thanks.

I have this header on my '01 with precats, fit perfectly. Also upgraded my motor mounts at the same time.

Do you mind sharing some photos of these installed?

I don't have pics of the install, but can try to get some pics this weekend of it installed, but it will be kinda hard to see the header. I did not notice any power upgrade or it did not sound any different. I did the header because the intake/exhaust gasket took a ****, so just put a header on at that point. although, I will be adding a highflow cat & spintech muffler soon.

I'm looking to put the same part number in my 2000 Xj, for a similar cracked manifold reason. Any comments on fitment and build quality, are very much appreciated. It seems the only other two brands I found rugged ridge and banks both received very questionable reviews... In short, I have another part broken on my beloved XJ, time to upgrade it with something better than OEM.

You might want to check your motor mounts,Bad motor mounts can cause the header to crack sometimes.

I'm not sure where you're seeing "questionable" reviews on the Banks headers, but you might want to take those with a grain of salt. I have one and like it. I ended up with it because of the good reviews I read regarding quality, performance and sound. It comes with a lifetime warranty IF you buy it from an authorized retailer, so if it cracks, just replace it.

Borla makes a short pipe header they market for the Wrangler 4.0 with the 0331 head. It should fit the dual-manifold XJs also. But it's $900.

sweet! thank you both for your advice. motor mounts are original, and I'll have to poke at them next. The jeep is still mostly stock. Its my extra vehicle, and goes back into DD service only in the winter when the wife's 'stang hits the garage. We did a muffler and all the freeze plugs two falls ago, last fall saw whole new suspension (OME leaf packs, springs, JKS sway bars, Dirk at DPG offroad is a great guy and totally hooked me up), and 30" BFGs. This fall will be a manifold and whatever else can / needs to fit into the budget. The reviews I saw were mostly on Amazon: Banks (warranty complaints:
Amazon Amazon

I'm thinking a little more for the JBA and upgrading motor mounts at the same time like sandblaster87 did is the right way to go. Assuming that JBA part fits the 2000 the same as the 2001.

Both years used the exact same exhaust manifolds, so if the JBA header fits one, it will fit the other.

(And before anyone says it, yes, I know I made the word manifolds plural. That's because in 2000 and 2001, there were actually two 3-cylinder manifolds, front and rear. The headers all replace them with a single-piece unit.)
