Hey guys I really could use some input here, I have a 96 xj and I want to swap the dash with the 01, my parents have an 01 they blew to motor in so I have full access to all I ned form it, ive already swapped the headliner, seats and center console. id like to swap the dash and the door panels if possible. ill really appreciate the help!

Gauges are going to be an issue... they aren't just going to work with the 96's computer. You'll also have to chop up the firewall AFAIK.

sell the 96, buy a new motor for the 01, drive the 01.

 

the question is i want to pit the dashbord of a 01 into a 96, i dont mind leaving in the 96 guages i just want the dash. can you link where its been done on google? and the 01 is 2wd... besides my 96 is lifted and aftermarket steal bumpers. or i would lol

 

Check Comancheclub. They frequently swap everything from a 97+ onto their comanches.

Probably easier to put your engine in the 01.
