The opposite has happened to me.
Back when I was stock... early spring. Me and my friend are bombing around on some old logging roads.
Come across a large stretch of snow.
I look at him, and ask if we can make it.
He says without a doubt in his voice, yes.
We didnt. I became high centered shortly after.
Got it on its tires, and rocked it out.

I had someone on another forum tell me my XJ would not make it up a trail called constrictor because he barley made it with his XJ an he has 5" of lift 33's and a locker.
I made him eat crow ! Last weekend I went up that trail using my XJ with 3" of lift, 31's , An a rear locker ! I scraped my rock sliders a few times but I still made it with out stacking rocks or getting help from any other rigs. BTW the last pic is at the top of the trail !

I guess people out west are not used to tight rocky trails like there are back east I was in my element !

I went out with some guys last week with my XJ and there TJ and YJ. When I was disconnecting my disco's they said where are you taking that XJ milk man. I told them in a nice manner that I will be going out with both of you. Then they started talking about how many times they will be using there winch. When the first one got stuck I was the only one around to help. When he asked me to help I told him this was one of those times he was talking about using his winch today. I just sat in my XJ and watched him hook up to a tree and winch himself out. When he was done I did get out and disconnect him and wound up his cable for him. Then I went thru the same spot he did without getting stuck and drove around him and told him I will meet him at the next spot to pull him out. The XJ earned allot of respect that day.

I was out with a CJ, TJ, and JKU last weekend going through some tight spaces. I was able to keep up with them. None of us got stuck to where we needed to be pulled, but we definitely saw the pros and cons to short and long wheelbases lol. At the end one of the TJ guys told me he didn't think I'd keep up and I made him change his opinion on XJs.
It's funny. I'm in the reverse. I just got my XJ and did my lift. I'm new to wheeling and went out over the weekend and met a guy with a pretty hooked up YJ for crawlin. He got me to go try thing I wouldn't have. He was like, "I've been out with XJ's with less done than you and they can do much tougher stuff than this." Needless to say, I am quickly learning just how capable these are and I like it!
I've had people make fun of my minivan, i went wheeling with a bunch of YJs and TJs on 33s and 35s laughing at my stock(ish) XJ. All I had was street tires and a good recovery bumper, i figured i'd need recovery.. lol. Well sure enough I didnt get stuck even once, after that day I never doubted my XJ again, I've gone places in stock(ish) form that people on 33s and 35s have gone. Clearly its all about picking your line and good quality driving/spotting. They went and struggled in places i might add...
