So my friend Jim (80+ yrs old) is contemplating selling his completely stock XJ Sport. '98 with 77,699 miles on it. He has no idea what it's worth. I took a few pics last evening but our internet provider is so slow right now it won't download. Got this much up so far.

I'm the original owner of an 88 XJ and listed it on Ebay with a $20,000.00 reserve so I wouldn't have to sell it and the bidding stopped at $10,000.00, it cost me $40.00 to list it but was worth it just to get an idea as to what it was worth. I then got insurance on it and the contract has "Guaranteed $10,000.00" if totaled.

Wow!
Jim and his wife go to Texas for the winter. He's got a newer (2019?) Cherokee he needs to bring from Texas so he needs the XJ for now. He hardly ever uses it. I'm hoping he'll leave the XJ with me when he leaves so I can give it a good going over.

I think I'd let my 90 limited mine go for that price.

It has 300,652 miles on it. I'm the original owner so when I bought it new I had it undercoated and rust proofed. Overall it is clean and it's insured through Hagerty insurance with a guaranteed $10,000.00 if it was to get totaled. I still have the window sticker and sales contract.

If he makes it down to San Antonio, I'd contemplate giving him 6K for it. I would certainly want to go over it with a fine tooth comb.

Actually San Antonio is where him and his wife spend winter. Their daughter and son-in-law live there. As I said in a former post I hope he leaves it with me for the winter. Good chance it will be sold locally when they don't need it anymore which will probably be next spring. THANKS for inquiring though.
