Does this seem like a good deal?
New to the Cherokees, and upon lots of previous research for getting my first one, this could seem like a good deal.
Mentions small rust on the rocker panel, and have been gone over with (what he thinks) is bed liner.
Other than that, $2,750 for a '98 with 137k.

Would it be worth the 3 hour drive?
Anything to look for specifically if I go take a look at it?
Thanks everyone!

not sure how great a deal it is after reading this. i'd stay away from it because of the rust....
1) rust depending how bad it is.. ( i can see it in the pics so its not good thats for sure) will drop the price.
2) bed liner isn't preventing the rust from getting worse. its will speed up the process that has already started..
and no.. one with rusty rockers is not worth a 3 hour drive. a spotless one yes. a rusty one no..
.
There is some beginnings of rust on the lower part of the sides of the vehicle (rocker panels), these parts have been gone over with what looks like a truck bed liner to prevent future rusting.

Ask for underside pics before driving 3 hours. And "going over" rust with bedliner does nothing to stop rust, only hides it.
Edit: I'll add that the exhaust is hanging, rust probably ate through the hangers. If someone can't even fix that it shows how it was maintained/treated. And the person selling sounds like a flipper or someone that bought a vehicle that has more problems than anticipated, since they don't even know what the coating is.
My opinion...priced too high just from what I see.

It all depends on the rust underneath that kind of rot can be a death note for the XJ's, but you never know till you get under it and look. I would call and ask if they are firm on the price for a ca$h buyer and driving that far to look at it? Ask for a lot of photos of the frame rails shock/coil towers everything under it before you go and when you do take a screwdriver and poke hard on all places like floor pans, frame rails to see if it goes all the way through.
