XJ Value according to your Insurance Company?
Can anyone recommend an insurance company that would cover the full value of my almost fully restored Cherokee XJ Limited? The only way it seems that will work is if they do an Agreed Value policy. Geico won't tell me what they think my Jeep is worth, I know I could sell it tomorrow for $12,000 but the blue book is probably like $4000.
Also, do you have any idea what your insurance company values your Cherokee at? If so, who are they and what is it?
thx, Sam

If I remember correctly both of my last XJ’s in very solid condition ... booked around 1200-2000. An XJ is only worth 4,000 to someone that loves XJ’s. I see the insane prices you mention nearing or exceeding ten thousand some sit for sale for years before giving up or lowering to realistic values . No insurance company is going to value your XJ at 12,000 dollars or any XJ on a standard plan.If you want to be insured for what you feel your XJ is worth you will have to contact a classic car insurer for a custom policy . They like to do their own appraisals if the appraisal doesn’t fit your thoughts of its value you can insure for additional money . These types of policies carry strict guidelines such as must be garaged 24/7 365 and must provide proof that it is possible . Must provide proof that it is not a daily driver and that it doesn’t drive in excess of “xxxx” miles a year . Some must have classic or vintage plates etc etc . However they don’t have to insure you if they don’t see your vehicle fit for their company at that value . You must remember you can go guy a rubicon TJ or a used JK for 12k or less and there’s no way an XJ is ever worth that much insurance is going to view the same way. Last but not least this is not meant to bash XJs or your XJ this is just how I truly feel about the subject and it is not meant to offend or disrespect just simply being honest .
Appreciate the response, but in Los Angeles nicely restored XJ's (not off road mods) sell from $9500 to $13000. They go for the same on Bring a Trailer, etc. Mine is worth $12,000 because I know that's what someone would pay for it. Not going by any sort of book value because that's the exact problem, they drastically undervalue.

That question aside, there is no magic insurance company that is going to understand the wonderfulness of XJs and value your vehicle radically different than the rest. You are wasting your time looking for one. If you think it's worth 12k, look for the best deal on an Agreed Value policy. That is your only option for insurance.
