Hello,
I am new here, so please forgive if this has been asked 1000 times before. I am thinking of buying a 2000 Jeep Cherokee Freedom, 118K on clock, full service history and 1 owner. Condition looks good (only seen online, it's miles away from where I live). The owner's price seems high, KBB gives it around 5300 (for Sport, Freedom not listed), they are listing for 7900. What's the difference of this model to say an SE or Classic? Does this price sound fair? I love Cherokee's, my ex had a 1993 Limited I drove for a couple of years and loved it.
If you can help, much appreciated

Part of the reason to buy an XJ (apart from them being awesome) is how cheap you can find them. $7900 for an all stock one is waaayyyyy too much. I feel jipped because mine was $3500, my friends with XJs got theirs for $1500 max.

first of all, it's 11 years old.
secondly, you can get a 97 for about 2 grand, rebuild the motor and the tranny, add a paintjob, put on a 99+ intake, and you would still have money left over for some excellent tires from that 7900.

Interesting replies, thank you.
I feel torn as really want an XJ, but as (and sorry to admit this on this forum) not very good myself at mechanics, so looking to buy an XJ I can use straight away - I have no transport currently and rather than buy some used Japanese car, want something with some class and not the bog standard SUVs everyone seems to drive these days. Every site I look on, like Autotrader, cars.com seems to have a few XJ's, normally around 5k/6k with similar milage to the one I am looking at. Am I a stupid to be looking to buy an XJ this way? Are there better places to look?

think it was listed on craigs list too. the carfax report checks out really well, regular service with dealer it came from and 1 owner. spoke to them too, sound like good people.
