a Petition I made to hopefully get Fiat Chrysler to redesign the new cherokees to be more like the old xjs. If you could sign it that would be excellent. They probably won't do it even if it gets lots of signatures, but its worth a shot.

Lol my thoughts exactly. But this isn't the first thread like this. With the appearance of the KL a few years ago, everyone was bugging out and starting these threads.
I once spoke with the head of Jeep PR in North America about this. It's never going to happen. The 4.0 can't happen either. The KL isn't even marketed to people who like the XJ. That's what the JK is for. Seriously, if the KL looked like a modern XJ, XJ fans still wouldn't buy it.
Probably have a better chance of them bringing back a LJ type Wrangler.
XJ wheelbase 101". LJ 103"
XJ weight 3300, LJ 3700
Both have straight axles F and R, as opposed to this independent suspension on the new Cherokees. There is no other existing platform to build a new-old Cherokee, so the chances of them designing something totally new from the ground up for such a small segment of potential buyers is laughable at best.
The majority of SUV buyers nowadays are soccer moms who prefer comfort and tech gizmos over basic mechanical capabilities. And be honest, would you drop $30k on a brand new-old Cherokee to bang up or would you build 2 or 3 super capable old XJs?
Yes it is, but the sharpest JK out there. I guess that the concept really appeals to me because my uncle had a SJ in the same blue and white paint. I was only around 10 or 12 at the time, but it made a big impression on me. I just love that SJ style front end
