Default XJ 6 Speed swap question

hey ive got a 96 XJ auto trans is on its way out. so i picked up a 6 speed out of a 05 LJ cheap. Anything i need to know about the swap. read its pretty much the same as a 5 speed swap. will i need to change the CPS or will it work on the 6 speed? Do i need to get a 5 speed computer or is that just for the the 97 and newer xjs?? thanks...

Did you check the bell housing bolt patterns?

This is largely uncharted territory as far as I know.

I'd pick up a used auto trans for $200 and sell the six speed for a profit.

The problem with the 6 speeds are the crank shaft position sensors...some have cut into the bell housing to make it work...

Why don't you just do it and be a pioneer? Do a build thread documenting how easy it is.

We're waiting.

theres other threads on other pages, not that hard. they say you can used the CPS from the 6 speed just rewire it. and you have to change the TPS and rewire the NSS to the new clutch master. im gonna do it next month will let ya know how it turns out. the flywheel and clutch are the same as a 5 speed and lots of people swap those.
