WELCOME! First lifting a wrangler really high is stupid expensive. Can easily cost as much as the vehicle is worth. Secondly the 4 banger is ok for power but you will have to regear massively. Friend did his and he was in the 5.13 to 1 range real quickly. Would be cheaper and easier to lift, lock, and build up your cherokee than the wrangler. Also this most likely should have gone into other vehicles. Hope this info helps you.

IMO, no...if you plaan on lifting it high and going big tires then the 4 banger just wont cut it.

The I4's two biggest downfalls is due to it's power offroad and onroad inclines it will suffer.. Also compared to the I6 it is not as highway friendly. General Offroading as long as it is geared properly for it's tire size it will serve you well. Rocks, Trails, Water Crossings, Snow, all good.. Mud bogging not so much with a I4
As to lifting it, How much it will cost you depends on how high you want to go and whether were talking CJ, YJ, Or TJ..

I wish to have both a TJ/LJ and a XJ someday.. Only issue I will have with that is I wouldn't know whitch one to use as the DD and whitch one to use as the primary offroader.. it would hurt my head to have to make that decistion

my dad has had his manual 4cyl wrangler since 04 when he bought it new, its got 40xxx on it and every thing is stock except for his maxxis buckshots that are one sixe bigger than stock, it gets the job done but has very little power in my opinion, if your looking to get a wrongler to just wheel, id get the rubicon with a v6 because. the 4 cyl may have alot better gas mileage but i think the i6 is better for what your wanting to do

hahahahahaha you said v6.. I don't think he's looking to build up a JK as they still command a hefty dollar..

one of our club guys has a re-geared 4banger and he wheels it mercilessly. I've known the guy over a year I didn't even realize it was the 2.5 until he mentioned that he found a low-mileage 4.0 he was gonna drop in instead.

he didn't make it up the hill, but neither did the rest of us

2.5 wrangle can be good if regeared. My uncle had one on 38's and just was for wheeling front and rear lockers . He did a lot of rock crawling in Georgia with it 5speed
