Console mounted to roof.
Didn't want my antenna on the side for fear of ripping it off or folding and busting the tail light....so I mounted 4 foot whip on the drivers side like the stock FM antenna on the passenger side.

If you don't smoke, you might consider mounting it on the inside of the ashtray(depending on the size of your unit)

Mine is right about the rear vIew mirror bolted the roof
I'm on my iPhone so I can't send pic, but it looks clean, and it's a cobra 29, so it's a good size unit
