When I get mine its going on the back of the center console. There is a thread someone started a while back with a lot of replies about the same thing.

on teh passengers side of the console, almost level with the shifter when its in park.
Coax runs under passengers seat, under back seat, under rear panel (plastic, where the spare is mounted), out the tail light hole, and then to a firestik SS-204a mount with a 4' fiberglass antenna. Radio is grounded to trans tunnel and antenna mount is grounded with the screws and a 14ga wire to the inside of the jeep.
can post pics later if needed.

Thats the exact one i am going to get. Does it interfer with getting to the gas pedal at all?

It doesn't get in the way of the pedals at all. I have all the wires running under the center console and then under the carpet with my amp wires, and then under all the plastic behind the spare tire and out the tail light grommet(driver side). I also have a 4' firestick, the reception is pretty good in town and really good on the highway.

The cb does not get in the way with any passenger and even though the speaker is against the console you can hear it loud and clear

Reception is good, I was picking up skip from NC a couple days ago in the middle of the day... The antenna is mounted on the drivers side and my swr is under 1.5 on all channels. Ill post pics later, I dont get home from college till like 830.

Mine is mounted between the seats on a custom cup holder... since I have no factory center console.
I have an external speaker mounted by the dome light. My antenna (102" fiberglass) is also mounted by the driver's side taillight.

Hey i was curious about this too. But i want to put in a place you dont see it. I will only use it on trails and i dont want to see it all the time. anybody hide theirs where it still works decent?

You could hide it in the center console if you have one and then just leave the mic dangling out while you are on the trail. other than that or under the seat you are limited on your options for hiding it in an XJ.

Just the radio? Put it anywhere you want, or you can get a cobra one that hides behind the dash and just had a "bung" for the mic.
you can get a mag mount antenna, but it has to be tuned, and then put back in the same spot every time

yeah, i had one given to me for the trails, i think its an older cobra so its kinda big (maybe average size, i dont know a hole lot aout them). im pretty sure it would fit in my console so thought about puttin it there but nothing else will fit. Do they get hot or anything. can i just stick it under the seat or something?
