That will look great when installed. Is that a factory head unit? I was thinking about making a custom one.

The cb does not get in the way with any passenger and even though the speaker is against the console you can hear it loud and clear
I like that spot, if i dont try to fab anything up for the ceiling, i might put it there

I like that a lot. Very nice. How are you going to run the wires though?

you can put it under the seat, only problem being trying to reach the controls while sitting in the drivers seat.

Default cb mount location and antenna

Antenna mounted on roof behind roof rack

I didn't want to see the CB all the time because i only use it on the trail, so i opted for this mounting location... it's served my use well.

I drilled a hole through the roof of my xj, it has an awesome ground and the swr meter reads below 1.5 on all channels.

Here is my antenna.. I know it looks like rust, but I think that is dirt. And the antenna is 102" fiberglass. And the white stuff flying around...that's snow.

My XJ is a Laredo and as far as I know the overhead console came stock. I used to house compass/temp, remote sensor, garage door opener, sun glasses holder and lights. The front lights by the rear view mirror no longer work. Had to remove the light housing to run the coax and wire for CB. Switches for my roof rack lights and fan are now where the compass used to be.

I grew up in Columbia and used to race MX (4Wheeler)at the Landing and Sunshine MX, back when I was younger, dumber and in lot better shape.

Ran the wire through a stock groument underneath the brake booster and up through the cover on the A-pillar and over under the headliner. Nothing to it.
