What fluids are you leaking and what are you going to do about it?

My '92 is currently leaking coolant visibly when its super cold, also the oil level is down, and I just had to top off power steering because it started to whine on me.
So after I make sure what I think is wrong is the real issue, the plan is to put on a new water pump and valve cover gasket. The jury is out on the power steering issue though. I replaced the hoses a couple months ago and haven't had any issues til now.

 

i was leaking the occasional drop of oil every few months or so. I switched to 5w40 and haven't seen any drops yet since the switch a few weeks ago. Pretty sure my oil filter adapter o-rings could use a replacin', but due to the fact that it's a Torx holding it on there, I will take no action!

 

Been leaking oil ever since I've had it, replace the rear main and valve cover gasket, valve cover is leaking again. My new aluminum champion rad just started leaking and my tranny leaks into my transferase and causes the transferase to leak.. Waiting for the pukegoat to grenade to upgrade to the ax-15.

Ever tackle the seatbelt bolts on a Jeep that's lived it's life in the rust belt?

 

It leaks nothing.

 

My 94 has the oil filter adapter leak. It leaves a spot about the size of a half dollar every day...lol. My 99 has the tiniest leak ever. It doesn't even drip down but there is oil on the bottom of the transmission bellhousing.



Getting the oil filter adapter off is not to bad. Just heat the torx bolt up with a torch and it should come right out. I'm getting ready to change the o rings on the 94.

 

I just did mine the other day on my 95 that has spent its entire life in Wisconsin.

It wasn't bad at all. I loosed it underneath using a breaker bar then figured out I could do it all from the top and cursed up a storm. But it was extremely easy.

Ill get a picture of the tool I used to break it loose.

Edit: I'm talking about the oil filter adaptor o rings not the seat belt lol.

 

I lose a bit through my oil filter adapter. I still gotta track down the Torx for it, and it needs to stop snowing and all that.

 

Get a right angle torx wrench. You can get to the screw from up top pretty easy if you don't feel like crawling all over the ground. I didn't know that at first so I broke it loose underneath then put it back together through the top.

Currently, my '91 doesn't leak at all. When I first got it, it was REALLY marking it's territory. I was driver about 100 miles a day for work and was leaking about a quart of oil a day. I had replaced the oil pan gasket and it still leaked. I took the timing chain cover off and over half the gasket was missing. I replaced it and the front shaft seal and it hasn't leaked since.

 

Yeah I've read it plenty I'm just too broke to spend $5 on another tool lol. It's in the queue though. Probably the next thing!

 

My XJ doesn't have any leaks, now the old geezer that drives it is a different story, thank god for doctors LOL.
