Depends on the amp that you will be running.

Why don't you just go with one high end dvc like the clarion. With a mono amp that will give you a ton of bass.... plus you can build it in to the cubby. I will be making a custom mdf box and cutting the trim out. I don't want to lose storage space. Just my .02$

I would get a new box for two 12s and go with Rockford Fosgate. Go into a car audio shop like Car Toys and ask around, they should have guys that can be of help. (though every shop has the JL douche who thinks he is right about everything always and that anything that doesn't say JL Audio on it is crap)

Im getting these 10" for the mids nd highs, later on Im gonna get two 15cvr kickers with a 2 channel kicker400.2 for the lows. I had a 15 kicker comp with a crappy box, but I sold it.not really a fan of twelves, unless I were running only tweleves.

I was hitting 146.2 DB's in my first zj. I was running 2, 2007 model 12" kenwoods-800 rms, 1200 peak (50 bucks each) powered by a Hifonics Brutus amp. 136 amp alt,I had to hold the rpms at 2k to keep the bass going but for a DB drags it didn't bother me. The subs were in an MDF box I made, tuned to 55Hz- with removable ports so I could easily tune it to 32Hz when driving around ( sounds better, 55 Hz is only good for SPL). I also used about 13 cans of GREAT STUFF foam inside all my interior panels, for sound dampening. It eventually blew the seal out of my very rear drivers side window. Needless to say I grew up and my interests went from car audio to jeepin ha. Just don't skimp on your amp, an amp will make or break a system. Get a class D and ensure its high quality not knock off.

I use MTX Thunder Marine, the marine can take the environmental influences in back of the XJ. (Rough ride, mud, wet, snow). 3year, all perils warranty at future shop.
They come with a sturdy grill.
