New to me 1985 Pioneer. What on Earth is the thing below the clock? Any ideas?

My first guess is remnants of a phone holder maybe.

I'm leaning towards this.

Agreed it's not stock. I wasn't sure at first, but upon closer inspection, it is really poorly placed. Hoping it's just stuck on and will come off. Thanks for the insight!

Phone, yeah, maybe. I'm thinking maybe a microphone. Check to see if there are remnants of a two-way radio being mounted somewhere.
