Talking What the heck is this thing?

I have a plastic cover with a black ball looking thing on the ceiling of my Jeep! It sits right above the review mirror.

I have no idea what this thing is!

Any body out there know?

Thanks!

It's a spy camera we can tap into online and watch what you are doing.

Just kidding, it is the sensor for remote keyless entry.

hahaha I was thinking the same thing! Thats why I covered it up with some duck-tape! haha j/k

So then that means I have key-less entry set up on my Jeep? So can I just go buy a new remote or somthing?
I was going to have an alarm installed, but all I really want is to be able to unlock the damn thing without using a key... That is if I can get the darn locks to work properly. They dont like to move at all!

You can get a new remote at the dealer and have it programed. There some universal remotes available but I do not how well they work.

Good timing on this post. I was messing around with my XJ this past weekend and saw that and wondered the same thing. I figured it was some kind of filler piece for something one of the higher end models had. I was looking at the 2 screws and wondering what was behind them and if it would make a good spot to mount a CB.

Duct tape! All this time I thought the web link was down and it's all because you put duct tape up there. That's just wrong to treat us that way.

on a 93 you will need to open up the senor and get the code from the back
and order one with the right code they are not programmable like the 94 and later ones

I have the same problem the remotes are 65 buck each

if your locks are sticky id say spray em with wd40 and work them, then some brake cleaner to get the gunk out and then some grease to keep em lubed better and longer, but after you lub em make sure to work the grease in there so it actually does what its supposed to.

Mike 37 - Where can I order one from? A Jeep dealership? Or somewhere online?

Claygrassmann - Thanks for the info! I will def. have to try this to see if it works. They are so hard to move, that it hurts your finger! The people I bought it from were kinda messy, my guess they were driving around with huge 42oz cups of soda and just liked to spill stuff everywhere! Thats just a guess of course!

lmao if you need cup holders btw autozone makes a nice little holder that i slide between the center consol and the pass seat, i used some velcro to hold it in place better but i love it!
