Condition is going to make the biggest difference.

I doubt i'd pay more than 3k for a 98 and it'd have to be in damn good shape.

Pictures or a link to an ad would help a lot.

If it's as clean as that one I'd go for it if you aren't married to the cash.

Check for leaks.

Check for clean oil.

Check for rust .

All that good stuff. If there's NOTHING wrong with it then I may go for it.

If it has issues I wouldn't pay more then 2500-3k (Without seeing it.)

PM me the Ad. I'm on the other side of the country. No one on here is going to snag it.

I need an ad for an honest opinion.

I got rid of a Dodge Neon from my wife as it was having too many issues even though at the time I was barely driving it. I got $1500 for it. Bought the Jeep for the same amount from a friend. It is a 1996 4-door 6 Cyl. Cherokee. It has a ton of cosmetic issues but no major damage or major issues wrong with engine. I've got some work to do I am sure. I am working on restoring it so that it will last a while. It will be a while before I can buy any kind of new car anyway. I am sure some of you are in the same boat but at least the Jeep is paid for right?

Picked mine up for $300 at an auction. It was a DUI rig so I knew it had to run. 206k ran perfect, now it has 212k and still runs awesome.

clutch slave cyl was bad, pulled the trans and found it had a new clutch in it! that was nice to see.

It acually looked good before I got my mud\trail hungery hands on it.
