You can see from the post above you I had a ford although not a bronco an explorer never wheeled it hard at all yet tcase dies on me along with a host of other problems IMO garbage but like I said it was an explorer
$3400 for my 2001 xj from the original owner. 121k on the dash. All it needed was a tune up and brake pads. not the best deal in the world but I'd rather spend the extra buck for an unmolested jeep than to buy cheaper and be stuck with problems . It's my DD as well.

I paid $1000.00 5 years ago for my 1992 with 75,000 on it. I bought it from some dude who just got his 5th DUI. I guess he needed the money? Best thing.... it had whiskey plates on it. For those that don't know what they are. In Minnesota, maybe elsewhere, you get them when you are habitual DUI offender. The plate letters start with WS, hence whiskey. The police can pull you over anytime to check for violations. They were gone the next day.
BTW.. XJ now has 175,000 on it. They'll have to pry my cold dead fingers off the steering wheel to get this Jeep.

I paid $750 for mine with 316K miles, new tires and battery. It had a blown head gasket and the cooling system was toast. I've since had the cylinder head rebuilt, new rad, pump, clutch. Got some cheap 3" lift parts off craigslist. The tires it had were almost new, gave them and rims to a buddy in need. Replaced all the brake stuff front and rear. I'd have to say that I have under $2,500 in total, but I'd drive it around the world with no fears at all. I'm sure it will make 400K miles easy. This spring I get to flush the AT and do some tie rod and drag link work. I'm happy.
