Haven't posted much since my DD has been parked. She lost oil pressure(currently 0-10psi. I think a lifter fell out. I've been waiting for this day for over a year now so I would have a good excuse to do my engine swap.

Now it's time, and it happens to be cold every night right now! Colorado nights during winter are the worst to work outside in. Guess I will just keep using the backup XJ.

What are you talking about? It hit 65 here in fort collins today. If I didn't have work I would have spent the day working on my XJ.

it rained really hard the other night and I had my first day of "real" work at my new job the next morning, go figure on my first day the Jeep wouldn't start, but would crank.

I diagnosed the problem and came up with no spark, but fuel and compression.

My coil is under warranty so I went to advanced and exchanged what I thought was a bad coil for a brand new one. Put it in and still no start. started to suspect the CPS, but before going through the hassle of replacing that I decided on a whim to check the coil ground to the block. The electrical connection was shoddy at best, so I sanded the mounting bracket to shiny metal, and viola it started. Took about 30 seconds of cranking to burn off the excess fuel in the cylinders though.

Moral of the story: Hood vents + heavy rain = no bueno for electronics. Time to find another hood, do lebaron vents and drip pans.
I've seen vented hoods on xjs and thought about what happens when it rains. Happy you got your rig running again though

I tried to install my hitch receiver today, but I couldn't take off the sway bar bracket. Bolts were frozen I'll try again soon...
