Built my Rear tailgate panel.
I used a piece of 1/2"mdf, drilled through where the plastic christmas tree panel clips would go. Most of them were all broken on the panel anyways.
Routed out a slot for an LED strip light that you see in the middle. Then covered it with carpet.
After that I used an awl that I heated up with a torch to go through the holes for the screws.
Since all my panel clip points were broken I decided to just use Rivnuts on the fiberglass tailgate, and I bought some JDM YO! M6 fender washers from fleabay to attach the panel to the tailgate.
The handles are just drawer pulls, and they are to close the tailgate if I am sleeping in the back whilst camping.

any provision made to make that rear hatch open from the inside? I plan to do some type of swing out - exo style rear tire carrier and also a swing/rotate out interior cage tie-in setup from my rear shock towers for tools/storage Hopefully sometime this summer. Serious motivation aid seeing what you've done here though - Nice Work!!
Fired right up on the first crank.
No leaks, but my oil pressure gauge is not working right.
Plenty of oil on the top end of the engine. no ticking once it ran for a min.
Replaced my driver side door seal after old seal was removed. The new seal almost installed. Door seal install completed. While the driver seat was out the cable for the seat back release latch was tightened. This also shows the driver seat partially reclined and the passenger seat with its back pushed all the way back and in full recline position.

Yes!
Well maybe.
I hope I can?
I have seen someone I think on here do that to their Cherokee, but I think it was a 97-01 vintage??
It can't be that hard can it to fabricate something up, then melt a hole in the plastic where a handle could come out?

Cool!
What year is it, as the 97+ latch is different than the 84-96.
EDIT: I found it for ya.
First Gen obviously.
I was looking for a ""write up"" on this mod, but did not find one.
Dude that is genius! Write up how ya did it please?
Also you need to post more pics of your handiwork.
You do cool things on your Chero.

Replaced the door seal on the passenger side, this is after the install. This is after everything was put back in place. Also showing the seat fully reclined.
The crapy Z linkage for the transfer case was replaced with a straight linkage using threaded rod and Hemi joints, this was done in the past. I did this because the rubber grommets on the factory set up failed and were costly to replace them. My cost to do this was around $25.00.
@DustyWagoneer
Very easy the pull is a kayak handle off amazon attached at third brake light bolt holes. The rest is so simple these pics should do it. My power locks still work and elongate the hole to the left from inside if you want the key to work
