A few days ago when I started my Jeep for the first time with the new engine, my ol' pressure gauge was telling me I only had like 5 or 10psi.
When I opened my oil cap there was plenty of oil on the top end Hmmmmm??
So I went down to Mc Parts store to buy a new oil pressure sending unit, and a mechanical gauge (cheap tool to make sure things are OK).
Got it installed fired Ol Scarlett up and..........................
OK COOL!
took it out and put in the new pressure sending unit;
I am happy with that.
Drove Ol Scarlett around town a lil bit today for the first time since September.
That Thor cowl intake is FREAKING LOUD!
Oh well............ stuck with it now.
@DustyWagoneer
Very easy the pull is a kayak handle off amazon attached at third brake light bolt holes. The rest is so simple these pics should do it. My power locks still work and elongate the hole to the left from inside if you want the key to work
Thanks Will for posting these pictures.
I was at a place up here in the high desert today called Terry Cables.
I showed them what you did, and they said "hey we can do that with a cable system".
So next week I am heading down there with the Jeep, and we are going to figure something out??

that for a DD it might be too loud too.
Just wanted to clean up the engine compartment a little and was toying with the idea of put my aux fuse box in that area.
Kind of glad I did now.
I finally repaired the dreaded liftgate wiring. Added a 7” extension to the wires that fits in the rubber boots. It’s not pretty, but it cleans up good enough—and my wipers are working again.
Cleaned it!
Just rolled to over 345k miles and still have 50-55 PSI oil pressure at idle (cold).
A little over 45 PSI when hot.
She is wheeled more than weekly.

Mine needed that before I got rid of it. Funny thing is that even though at least half of the wires were broken at the flex joint, everything in the liftgate still worked.
I went down the rabbit hole yesterday. I was getting a check engine light and TPS code. I noticed my RPM would change when I wiggled the TPS wire so I figured it's a bad plug. I salvaged a plug and then decided to grab the engine wiring harness while at the pick and pull.
That's where I slipped down the hole, thinking I could just replace the plug and solder the wires into the original harness, seems this xj used to belong to the LA Dept of Prisons, as in idling for long hours in a warm climate. All of the insulation in the wiring harness seems to have melted together so I ended up pulling out the harness because I could not separate the wires to solder in the new TPS plug.
Now I have the original harness almost out except for the plug on top of the transmission or transfer case, it's currently resisting all efforts for removal.
Thing I have learned
1. Wash the underside before you start. I run a lot of red clay roads here in GA and there is bit of a build up.
2. Not all wiring harnesses are the same. ie. transfer case and transmission.
The end result is I have converted a running jeep with lit CEL to a new lawn ornament. Good thing I have 2 Cherokees.
Replaced things I should have done before I started my new engine.
Also a brand new Standard Parts Map Sensor was defective straight outta the box.
So new O2 Sensor, New MAP sensor, New Temp sensor for the PCM, new Manifold Air Temp sensor (another one that was defective outta the box, and again Standard Parts), New IAC valve & Pig Tails for it, New TPS, and last but not least new spark plug wires.
I pretty much bought all NTK parts this time.
Yeah I spent ALL that money on the engine and stuff, I shoulda coulda bought all new sensors before starting it up.
So it finally is running pretty OK.
Still a few things to iron out, and thanks to Outlaw Star for getting me going in the right direction with this lil stroker motor.
In the years I have owned this thing the CHECK ENGINE light never came on till today. I call that a win!!!!!
Course now it is off.

Got the bumper on for the last time, winch mounted and wired, grill polished up and on, flairs trimmed & mounted, Hawse Fairlead license plate holder mounted.
Ready to take her down for emissions testing in the morning?
I still haven't decided on what type of fog/ driving lights I want on the bumper yet???
Replacing rear shocks in the morning—OEM shocks being replaced. Flag nuts purchased already, and all bolts spayed with lubricant the last few weekends. All prayers appreciated, I do not have an air hammer.
