Registered it back in Colorado finally.
Cleaned the cone filter and re-oiled.
Changed the wipers.
Getting the street-meat, 17's balanced and rotated, today.
Swapping to the studded, 15" winter Evos after.
Finally found time to reinstall the fender liners for now. Some cutting was required after installing the bumper but did get them settled and secure using a couple of tie wraps on each side through the fender flare holes.
Also went around the oil pan checking those bolts.

DANGIT BOBBY! If your gonna do something wrong, DO IT RIGHT!
SO! I just assumed that since the front of the 4cyl, and the 6cyl are the same and share water pumps, thermostat housings, timing covers, and ect................Well I just reckoned that Jeep just moved the 4 cyl up a bit in the engine bay maybe just a bit????NOPE!
There is a reason it is a Lil 4 banger.
It's shorter, MUCH SHORTER!
Yesterday I was battling the Thor intake, and found out it is to short for the 4 banger
Yet another order from Summit Racing, and more delay.
Then today I come to find out that the 4.0 radiator hoses don't quite make it to the thermostat housing and the water pump.
And AGAIN another order to Summit Racing............ They BETTER SEND ME A Christmas card dang it!!
Just a tad short of home base!
SO I had bought one of these Mishimoto radiator inline temp sensor splices a while back before I found the cool 1/8" temp sender for my thermostat housing.
I need to buy another upper radiator house so I can get the length I need for that.
Then I ordered this tonight from Summit, and I will have to get another lower hose to do the same thing for that too.
I am soooooo sooo close, but still waiting on my alternator as well.

You have to remember that the 2.5 was developed several years before the 4.0. I read somewhere that when the XJ was designed, they designed the engine bay specifically too short for the 258 to fit, forcing the use of a "modern" engine, like the GM 2.8 V6. When the 4.0 replaced the 2.8, they had to rearrange the front engine components (along with some engine bay components) to make it fit.
So this is a "What I Learned Today" post rather than a "What Did I Do Today" post.
I pride myself on being pretty good with knowing models, options, and whatnot for '97 to '01 XJ's.
Maybe not so much. LOL.
Well I came across IMO what is the coolest thing.
They have this XJ with what is called the Endeavour Package. Looks like it might be a Switzerland thing.
All I have a couple shots of the interior and this one shows the most. Supposedly this is a '99.
Screw putting in a WJ wood grain steering wheel. I want that one.
The E-Brake and shifter handles. The heated seat switch and tranny shifter bezel.
I want all that.
I am pretty good at sourcing parts but this might prove challenging.
I did find this but it is weird cause the heater control in the picture above does not look to be wood grain.
Been cleaning all the tin for the engine today............YUCK! That stuff was just nasty!
The valve cover has a really nice thick film of what appears to be rust, just one problem........................ It's aluminimum!
Also got the new engine on a stand to start throwing oil pump, timing cover, valve cover, dip stick all on it.
OH! And I think I am going to paint it AMC metalic blue engine color just like my 401, and 360 for my SJ Wagoneer's?
It's itsy-bitsy next to the 360.
Aluminum is known for its many types of corrosion.
It is an amphoteric metal and (when fresh) corrodes easily.
Not what I did but more of what I am thinking about doing.... what do you guys/girls think about this for replacing the center section on the seats (leaving the factory vinyl there)? Head liner to match. I'm going black with the carpet if that's makes any difference.
