Took it out of the garage. Built a clayton hybrid 3 link, WJ front brakes, OTA/OTK steering, rear disc brakes, trussed the Dana 30, cut and extended the rear wells 5" over stock. Put on the 37s I picked up.
New battery, free with AAA "Premier" membership. The battery in the Jeep came with it when it was purchased about six years ago and it was at least a couple of years old at that time so can't complain. (The old battery never got to the point where the engine wouldn't start but it was slow cranking in cold weather. My battery tester said it had only 22% capacity left.)

Got the vacuum res mounted up today. Cut a little 1 1/2" bar stock to mount it inside the front crossmember because of the new winch bumper.
Got the coolant in it (pretty much), will finish it once the engine starts up.
Last thing to do tomorrow is go buy a couple 8 gauge terminals for a couple ground wires. Then hopefully it goes VRRRROOOOOOOOM!
My battery is pretty much toast, so I decided to maybe up grade that department too?
So I also ordered the JCR battery tray, and a new Odessey Group 34 dual post battery. The new battery should help with the winch?
That will be here next week sometime, but tomorrow?
Well I just hope it starts!
What will help the winch use less 'trons are mechanical advantages.
Use a SHORT line on the spool and use extensions if needed.
This smaller spooled line will give the winch more torque.

Installed the trailer hitch I bought at pull a part recently. Impressed to see that it looks like it was always there.
also added one of those circuits that allows you to use all of your radio settings without engaging the parking brake. Oh, and my check engine light turned off all by itself..again. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
It looks killer and sounds amazing. Was it worth the wait? Let's see how badly it affects my MPG since I seem to be all about the skinny pedal now :P
Next project: I'm going to be replacing the "98 Durango steering box upgrade" that I have been dealing with for the last six months. The problem is that I didn't realize that it had play in it until after I installed it, and I wasn't about to go back to the leaking OEM unit regardless. I purchased a brand new unit, not a reman--a stock one this time. I was one of the lucky ones that actually LOST some steering range after this "upgrade" even though it wasn't supposed to do that...I did read that a small percentage of people reported less LTL turning after doing it. Anyways this one has never been installed and is fresh as the driven snow so we'll see how she steers.
I'll post some pics later. That AFE cold air intake is pretty nice.
My front passengers door has not opened since I got this Jeep. I finally ripped out the door panel (with the door closed and seat still in) and found the issue. Those stupid little plastic clips that hold the lock and door handle rods are broken. Does anyone know what they are technically called? Need to order up a set or two. Door lock rod clip? Linkage clip? Rod retainer?
I have also found them at most auto parts stores. Need to know rod diameter.
Awesome! Thanks! I know there are 3 rods in the door, 2 are the same diameter. The one that goes from the lock cylinder to the latch is different though and looked like it used a weird looking clip. Hopefully that one isnt impossible to find. After that its time to move on to the rear hatch to see if I can make that sucker lock.
Washed my buggy and found the door handles looking very doughty, so I got out a rag and opened a bottle of ATF and went to work - in a short time this was the result:
ATF and a tiny amount and elbow grease
It works like Armer-all on steroids

For a SHORT time. First rain it will streak down the body panels. ATF is not good on the paint.
Try sealing the atf with Aero 303.
