Well all done with the Fluid Filming.
I must have done a pretty good job not spraying the exhaust.
There have been some years where there has been so much more smoke.

 

Got a few things done to the rig this weekend. Finally got the axle shafts sorted (30 spline inners/27 spline outers) and put together and torqued the unit bearings, axle nuts, brakes and wheel spacers. Then, installed the Synergy steering kit with a RE steering stabilizer. So far, everything fits and functions as intended.

I've got the tires and wheels ready to go to the tire shop this week as well.

I also bit the bullet and decided to do something about the two-year-old gas in the tank (which is about 10 gallons worth. I'm going to drop the tank, remove the old gas straight from the pump opening and replace the pump. It worked fine when I parked it but, Bosch 67658 pumps are back in stock on eBay, so I bought one!

That is going to **** a lot of people off and make a lot of people happy all at the same time.
Guys who have to do a fuel pump are going to be happy and those who settled for another brand not so much. LOL.
Those I can't find a Bosch fuel pump threads used to come up from time to time.
One day on Craigslist local to me some guy was selling a brand new Mopar one for my '00 for $150.
I just said screw it, bit the bullet as you said, and bought it for "stock".
If and when I have to do that job would like to try and only do it once. LOL.

 

What kind of tie rod did you put on? ends?

 

They're "stock style" tie rod ends from Synergy. No reaming required so they're not as large as GM 1-ton tie rod ends that a lot of people use but are still larger than stock. I'm only running 33s anyways.

 

I finally got around to installing my StinkyFab tranny mount. Pros: it is well made, seems bomb-proof, more deliberate shifts, and is slightly shorter than the OEM one, which is keeping my tailpipe off the cross member. Cons: I'm now driving a tractor. The vibrations at idle and in gear are pretty bad, but I can attribute most of the vibes to the drivers side motor mount bracket, which is the side that I had to grind out slightly. Not enough apparently, I've got some metal on metal contact. Last week I ordered a new bracket from Brown Dog, but it seems I'm going to be rattling for a few weeks until it comes in.

As soon as you give it some gas it drives and shifts fantastically with very little vibration. I hope that bracket gets to me by Thanksgiving.

 

Well not that you can really tell but washed the Jeep today.
Cleaned all the trim and bumper caps with some Duplicolor Cleaner/Degreaser and Armor All'ed all the trim.
Tire Black for the tires and am calling it a day.
Tomorrow she gets a coat of wax and the windows get Rain'X'ed.
Just leaves detailing the interior and I want to silicone all my door and hatch seals.
And put all my winter stuff in the Jeep. Snow brush, scraper, etc.
And I think that is it for October maintenance.

 

Since we had some soaking rains for a couple of days I checked the Jeep's floors today and the passenger side was wet. Pulled the carpet up again and the fiberglass insulation I put in there was not just damp, it was soaking and dripping water. (Tossed it out.) I wiped up the water on the floor and am running a fan to dry everything out again. So it looks like I've got a major water leak on that side - no wonder that floor rusted. It's probably been leaking quite a while and I never noticed due to the rubber floor mat. Will need to do some spraying around with a hose to try finding the leak.

 

Did some preliminary checking, pulled the cowl off and sprayed water into the air intake. Floor inside stayed dry and the water drained out behind the front wheels. Sprayed water around the blower housing under the hood, no water entry from there. So I'll need to spray all around the windshield next. Will do around the door as well, but the water appears to be coming in from underneath the carpet not from the top. (Top of the rubber mat stays dry.) I should probably also mention that the Jeep was not driven through the heavy rains. Water entered and soaked the floor while parked.

 

It may appear that the water is coming in from underneath. In my experience with something similar it ended up being a bad door seal and it was just a tiny bead of water behind a dash panel. Either way, it is accumulating on your floor pan which is no bueno. Can you take pics?

 

There are pics of the rust damage a little ways back in this thread. Right now since I dried the floor out it just looks the photo taken when the patching was done (below), and I'm thinking of bedlining the floor since I have the carpet pulled back up. The fiberglass I put under the carpet was really soaked, it was like wringing out a mop, so this isn't a small leak.



The wet area was in a pattern nearly identical to the following photo I found in another thread, where the yellow area is the wettest and the red area the greater extent of the water penetration. (I don't think there was a solution found in that thread).

 

Just guessing but take the little door off the Junction Box and see if anything in there looks wet.
In the engine compartment where the fender meets the firewall it like to leak down through there.

I would also see if anything is coming through between the door and the fender from the outside.

I meant to mention to keep an eye on that fiberglass when I saw you put it there because it will cause rust again quickly. I haven't yet started investigating my leaks but I know that on both sides it run down the firewall. The real mystery is where the water is coming from that puddles behind the rear seat support.

 

I didn't use fiberglass, just asked about it here after seeing it elsewhere. The patches are sheet metal pop-riveted in place and sealed with automotive seam sealer.

I'll check that fender-to-firewall seam as well - thanks!
