Oil and filter change, Rotella T6 and NAPA Gold. (Actually yesterday.) Also gave the Jeep a going-over before the weather gets real bad. All ready for snow... Though I'd be perfectly happy if we got a break from it this year!
Put on a non destroyed knock sensor and tried a couple different IAC hoping that might be the cause of my high/random idle. Still didn't fix anything. Getting very frustrated with the truck.
I had something similar to your problem. Believe it or not it was the front O2 sensor. I used my buddies scan tool and recorded about 5 minutes worth of data and printed it out. No check engine light or codes found. Apparently the O2 sensor's heating element would short out and then the idle would jump up.

That's sounds like a possibility. I have had some wiring issues with the o2 sensor. I'd love to find a scanner I could hook up to the Comanche, but those are few and far between.
Tell me about it. I own an '00. With that stupid fuel damper on it. Some people refer to it as the flame thrower. There is an O Ring in there that goes. It is a non serviceable part but people have replaced it. Not something I would feel comfortable with. Anyway when I did my valve cover gasket, new grommets and CCV stuff, 4 hole injectors, etc I bought a new Mopar fuel rail. Did not feel like doing that whole job and just have that thing crap out down the road. At the time it was fine though. Got it pretty cheap. $160. That is when I noticed no schrader valve for the fuel pressure gauge. I went back and forth on using and not using the old one. Said screw it and put in the new one. Still never did figure out if that thing was necessary. My '96 did not have one and looked exactly the same minus the fuel damper.
Interesting. A problem waiting to happen that I did not know existed. I have a 2000 but it is not close by to take a look at. Is the damper welded into the fuel rail? I see that JC Whitney has a damper for $41 that has a threaded stem. There is not a list of what it fits. If the existing one is welded in I would not want to try to modify the fuel rail for a new damper and risk debris contaminating the injectors later. The schrader valve is also useful to relieve any pressure in the rail prior to disconnecting the supply line fitting, but not a big deal. The damper is there for minimizing fuel pump pressure ripple and pressure pulses when the injectors open/close. Without it injector and injector seal life would be shortened. You should be able to find a used fuel rail at a pull your own part salvage yard.
Didn't really like the orange on the jeep so changed it to blue and Got my moog zj steering got it painted and installed also found a deal on 12 hole injectors $48 for set so got them and pulled the stock one hole painted the rail and installed them. now to think about what to do next!

Just figured out my Cherokee has a big fat leak coming from somewhere. Checked all the fluids and they're fine. Sometimes I consider parting out this thing because it gives me so many problems.
Checked the torque on the rear u bolts.
Adjusted the e-brake cables.
Fixed a brake fluid leak, and bled the brake lines for the fourth time.
Admired the amount of rust that has accumulated on the new parts over the past 2 weeks.
