Well, yesterday I changed the ignition coil (had to fight to get it out) and distributor twice. First time went great till I realized I should have used a gasket. At 6pm in the afternoon, I doubted I would have found one at the stores, so I pulled the new distributor out and used the old and trusted black RTV. Waited 2.5 hours before I drove it.
Come to think of it, the old distributor barely had a gasket left. When I pulled it, I only found a flaky quarter crescent thing that I thought was dirt pressed into that shape over time. Now I realize why everything around the old distributor was caked with oily mud - the old gasket must have fallen apart over time. I used many paper towels to clean the surface just to get a clean surface for the RTV.

Couple reasons I didn't go in the cowl. One, I tried routing the intake with the double elbow setup like the original Spectre came with but the crank case vent tube on the back of the Cover always gets in the way. It's definitely not a "cold air" intake, but I doubt it's much hotter than any of the other setups. Marginal at most. The other reason was interior noise. This is my personal baby hauler at the moment so no flowMasters or cowl intakes. Originally Posted by Basslicks

Even with the intake routed like it is, the butt dyno feels a lot more throttle response in the low range and I'm getting a bit of a mpg bump.

Yeah, that looks way easier, Cruiser. I should have prepared better. Somehow I missed that line of instructions in the FSM.Originally Posted by cruiser54
