Yes, many engines manufactured fifty years ago were of a flat tappet cam pushrod design. We joke that the AMC 258 was a tractor engine but the closest it really got was being used in a few International Harvester pickups and the Scout

You may have an opinion. Calling everyone else's proven combo's of non-Jeep parts junk.

Build yours with Jeep only parts and see how long it works. Or leave it alone with 215's.

I have ! Works Fine ! Thank you Very much. I said the 2.8 was junk . Compare it to the 4.0 ?

Easy to do. I had a 2.8 carbed and lifted S-10 4x4 that was wheeled almost daily. It would climb most anything and go thru it.

How many cracked heads have you changed on your 4.0?

How many blown intake gaskets ??? That engine wasn't used Very long for a reason . I wonder why .

I've been a member her a lot longer than I've been a vendor.
I'm also a guy that drives a modified (Re: Customized) XJ with....GASP!...A Chevy motor in it.

This forum is full of folks that build their rigs in a variety of ways using parts from many other vehicle manufacturers. Yep....they use non-Jeep parts. Heathens...every smelly one of 'em!
