use of fender flares?
what are flat style or bushwacker fender flares useful for?
I was just thinking about taking the stock ones off the front completely and cutting the fenders for clearance
because the BW's look more expensive than useful

For guys like me they're usefull for covering ones tires so the rig will pass inspection. In my neck of the woods the tread of the tire has to be covered by a flair if it sticks out beyond the body of the vehicle. You might want to look into your local laws regarding this before making a decision. HTH.

yeah thats what I said in the OP
I'd rather just take them off in the front and cut the fenders for the look and functionality
but I didnt know there was laws against having tires sticking out too far in certain areas
that thing is a monster I cant wait to buy my next one

well i know here its kind of grey... if you not flinging stuff up then you wont get bugged.... but it also depends on the cop.
i still have yet to get a ticket or even pulled over.

You can get away with a few inches in cali but the law does say all the tread needs to be coverd by the body and a fender flair counts as part of the body. If the cop wants to they can give you a ticket but more than likely they wont bother a jeep with weels sticking out an inch or two.
remember its the tread and not the side wall that counts unless you have tread that sticks out past the side wall.
