A friend with a dodge ram told me yeasterday day after I told him about a trail. How's you truck do?
Me: it's a jeep!!!
Him: whatever !
Me : it's a GOD DAMNED JEEP! Not a truck car or wagon or van !!!
Him: fine
Me : don't ever forget it.
The. He proceeded to ask me if his truck could get up this trail. I told him lose the sway bars.
Him: how do I do that !

Ha I watched that one the other day, but that reminds me how much I hate mythbusters for the episode where they crashed at least 5 good looking xj's... Such a waste

Oh god that episode pissed me off. not only because they destroyed all of those XJ's, but the myth was based on a WJ to begin with. They went full retard on that one.

I've seen a lot of XJ guys scout for white XJ parts, factory chrome trim pieces, 2-door Jeeps, tow hooks, and the skids and D44 that the totaled XJ might've had based on its year. I have never once heard anyone watch a dented and faded '00/01 Sport get totaled and yell, "Son of a *****! I could've used the D35, 0331 head and rear sway bar out of that!"

I saw a movie recently (don't remember what it was) that had two XJs and totaled the older one, presumably because it's older and less valuable. The thing is...the one they totaled was a Renix 2 door, 4x4, Laredo with chrome everything, and tow hooks. The one they kept driving was a '00/01 Sport.

I still love the beginning of the Goonies where they pass all those big trucks in that beach race in an XJ running from the cops. It was product placement for sure, but was still awesome.

If somebody doesn't total XJs then we wouldn't have so much fun pulling parts off them at the junkyard. I just got a D44 a few weeks ago so I'm pretty happy that one was wrecked. Another guy beat us to yet another D44 just a few days ago. We were a little bummed not to get it but the guy pulling it was pretty happy so good for him.

Not sure what insurance has to do with where the vehicle is disposed. They still must go through the process of chemicals, oil, etc being removed before anything else. They're going to end up at an auto recycle yard no matter what. It's up to the yard to make it available for parts or directly to the crusher depending on any value it might have.
