Go to Tom Woods' Driveshafts website. There is a great detailed write up there on installing a SYE in an NP231J. It is in PDF format and is easy to print.

Yep, I installed mine last weekend. I didn't even remove my TC from my Jeep. I did it right underneath my Jeep.

It took combined actual work about 4-5 hours. You can use a stock XJ auto tranny front driveshaft for the rear if your Jeep is lifted less than 6 inches.

That's about the same mine is. The XJ front shaft was about an inch too short fully extended. However, the stock front driveshaft out of a V-8 auto tranny ZJ fits perfectly.

I like your homebrew press you made there. I forgt to say. I put my TC in 4LO before I started on it. That way I knew exactly how much of that LO range shaft had to be cut off to make the new shorter rear housing fit with the plug in it. I'm glad the XJ front DS worked for you. Now, you only need to carry one trail spare. PORC AA SYE is the one I installed in my Jeep, too. Best deal I found.
