Ok, so im going to attempt to do this on my own. I've seen it done, watched tons of videos, and Im pretty handy.. So.. here goes.. Im going to tint the windows in my XJ. I live in NC so we can only have 35% on the front driver and passenger windows, nothing on the windshield, and 5% on the back doors and back side windows. But, Im still trying to figure out the rear hatch.. i think it can be 5% also, since the vehicle has both side mirrors.. anyone?
Also, Im looking at the two tone, gold to black tint.. I think it might really look sweet on my Gold 99 XJ..
Thoughts?
This is the two tone, gold to black film..
This is the film installed on a car.
This is my 99 XJ with OEM Gold.

I had mine tinted professionally to get a good result because I knew I couldn't do it. That gold fade would bug me if you could see it in the inside in SC the limit is 27% on front windows, none on windshield and whatever you want on the back windows. I have 20% on all windows and 70% on the windshield and don't get bothered at all by the police.
Very popular with the hispanic crowd around here, mostly see it on beat up civics.
Make sure you use high quality tint, or it will look like crap in 2 or 3 years and will be a PITA to remove. Llumar and 3m are great films, I really like the ceramic Llumar CTX line because it does not filter any GPS or Cell signals out
Having tinted numerous vehicles with various tints, I would not recommend 5% on rear glass, regardless of side mirrors. Makes it too difficult to see out in the daytime and zero visibility at night.
The important thing when doing tint is to have a clean, dust free area to work on, no wind. The slightest bit of debris will show up as a small bubble.
35% on front doors is not enough for summer beach, I use static-cling tint for them. It's thicker and made of vinyl, just peel it off when 'necessary'.
