bad steering parts, excuse for 1tons
So i have a few bad tie rod ends which gives me the excuse for an upgrade, i've been thinkin bout goin 1tons for a well in the hope that i can stop throwin my alignment off everytime i hit a pot-hole in the road. The only down fall to me goin 1ton steering is that i don't know anything about this upgrade. Is it better offroading? Does it hold the alignment better? Can i replace one TRE at a time or have to do it all at once?
Thanks in advance,
Redwolf

For the size tire/lift your running most would install a ZJ TRE setup from a mid-90's V-8 Grand Cherokee they are many fold time stronger all solid steel not rolled and the tre's are larger also. The nice part is that it is a direct bolt-in on your XJ no drilling out for the connections.
The 3 pcs. needed from AutoZone will cost just under a $100 I have ran this setup for several years in my mostly off road XJ running 33 & 35" tires (the 35's are pushing it but no problems yet). This is the most used up upgrade here on the forum for TRE's on all but Hardcore Crawlers and very large tires.

as much as i like upgrading too, 1ton is way overkill for anything under 35/37". like fred said, ZJ steering is the way to go, and only around 100$ depending where you are from

Also another question cause i was lookin hard at JCRs 1tons, does the steering damper get elimanated when switchin to 1tons? Redwolf
