I got got a 93 xj but the steering has a lot of play any ideas? Thanks

Noggin pokin' time.

Get down there while someone is moving the steering wheel back and forth and look for what has abnormal play

Okay first time owning a jeep so I'm not to sure what to look for but I'm sure if its not normal ill see it

Track bar, tie rod ends, steering box, steering shaft, ball joints, etc. etc.

worn/bad tie rod ends are diagnosed on a cherokee as they would in any other vehicle with tie rod ends...

Have a friend rock the steering wheel left and right while your under it,Look at every joint in the steering if any of them move enough you can see it its bad.Or have a garage check them and your ball joints for you.
