Why not prep it yourself and find someone to blow it over for you. then you do the finishing. Most of the cost is prep and finishing. It's a lot of paint to spray yourself if you do not have the right equipment.

I just got done spraying mine, if you search for my build thread I've got links to tons of pics in my photobucket album.
My paint cost me about $20. I didn't use primer, though, as I intend to scratch the paint on the trails and I want to be able to fix it quickly.
You'll wanna sand off the clear, CLEAN everything really, really well, then start laying down coats. Some people suggest using a primer, but its not NEEDED unless you take this down to bare metal.
It can be done, and it can look really good. Almost professional. But it can also look like complete garbage. Its all in how much work and research you put into the project.

I know from first hand experience.
I also kept some of my factory color. I liked the dark maroon metallic, so I taped off 7" racing stripes. It looks effin cool!
Several people, including complete strangers, have come up to me and have asked who and where I got my paint done.
You should see the looks I get when I tell them it was me, and a home garage rattle can job. They look just plain SHOCKED.

Yes and No. I have paintcan sprayed the underneath or out of sight of some of my cars. I would never spray or attempt to spray, especially with a can, the outer body work, no way.

Gee oh Dee,
I have not knocked it. If you feel confident enough to do it, then do so but take your time. May be that is how I should have phrased it. My self I have not got the confidence at my age. Now give me a machine that needs repairing is a different matter.
Cheers
Paul.
