I'm letting my XJ project rest for a while, but to ensure I still have something to throw money at in the meantime I bought a stock '04 WJ Overland with the 4.7HO V8 with 110k km (68k miles) on it to use for family transportation.
Preliminary plans:
A mild lift. I'm starting with a 2" BB and Up Country shocks. Im not going to take it off-road, so I guess this will be sufficient.
Bigger tires and steel rims. I'm considering 31/11.5/r15 Hankook RT03 and Cragar Soft 8's.
Bushwacker flares.
New muffler. I've ordered a Dynomax Super Turbo Muffler 17733.
Replace stock stereo in dash with a 7" tablet. I've ordered a Double DIN Bezel Adapter and a LG G pad.
New paint job. I'm considering spraying it with Plasti Dip (black).
Replace headlights.

I haven't had time to paint it yet. Will probably have to wait a month or two for that.
I've bought Bushwacker flares, Hankook RT03's (31x11.5r15), Black Rock Lobo rims, Superchips Flashpaq 3872, floor mats, 2" BB, Dynomax muffler, 7" LG tablet and a double din bezel. Still waiting for the rims to arrive, and so far I've only had time to put in the mats and install the Superchips tuner. With luck I'll get the time to install the BB during the week, and hopefully also the Bushwackers and muffler.
Junior approved of the tires. Jeeps, big tires and tractors are the main things in his life at this point (two years old) and as the good father I'm trying to be I of course do my best to satisfy his interests...
Finally got the rims on friday, so spent the weekend installing the bushwacker flares. Installation went more or less smooth. Time consuming, but pretty straight forward. What took me the most time was removing the stock Overland rock rails, because the bolts on the front side just spun. The outer ones I could just grind off, but the one partly hidden was another story.. Driver side came out eventually but on the passenger side I ended up cutting the mount as I'm not going to use the rails again anyway.
Also installed the BB in the front and that leveled her at exactly 2" with UpCountry springs in the rear. At least I think they are. Hard to tell from looking at them, but since PO (actually PPO..) had installed UC shocks I guess they also put in UC springs.
And I swapped the third brake light for a black LED one and headlights to black ones.
Next up: swap rear sway bar to 1" Addco and stock SS to a Rancho.

Installed Superchips Flashpaq a couple of weeks ago, and that was definitively worth the money. Great to be able to adjust speedo/transmission for tire size. Hard to tell about the stated 20+ increase in hp and lbs, but the improved shifting is noticeable.
Installed new tail lights and parking sensors. Also modified fog lights to clear more wheel space (after I wrecked the bulb and holder on the passenger side so I now have to use a fixing band to hold it in place..).
