Default Roll over remarks.

Advice, tips, remarks? If you witnessed a roll over or was in a jeep rolling over, or even starting to. Post it up.

Reason?

I almost rolled mine yesterday wheeling. Was on a trail by myself and long story short, it was going over. Slammed it in reverse, cranked the wheel and it went back on all fours.

My advice is not to panic. A roll over can be avoided by a simple action reaction.

My first instinct was to put my arm out the window to try and stop it. NOT a good idea.

How about you?

Advice? don't wheel alone, especially technical trails where a dangerous situation can ensue.

I had a buddy who rolled his XJ. It was nice too and it still is. But he went into a fish tale and for some odd reason he yanked his e brake. I think that if he wouldn't have done that he wouldn't have rolled to begin with.
I came close to rolling my 98 one night.
There's a lot of curvy roads where I live and I didn't know the road and there was a surprise turn. It said 40 but it was more like 20.
I think that without my rear swaybar she would have rolled. I would've died right there. Not physically though lol.

LOL well that is a politically correct answer. Don't you think it would be much safer to stay at home

Mine has been on it's side 3 times and the roof once. If you play hard enough and on harder trails it's going to happen. My CJ was my scariest roll, 4 times end over end down a hill. My advice is buckle up and try to keep the shinny side up. If you do roll it, pull the plugs and get any oil out of the cylinders before you fire it up after you right it.

Yes I know this is the best answer for me. But I am vain. And want a street looking sleeper jeep. LOL Few more dents and I will probably change my mind.

Great advice. And yes, if you really wheel, you will get in a situation where it wants to roll.

WoW on the cj roll!

coming around ohare airport there is kinda a tight turn and its 55 mph well there was a car doing about 40 and i went to go past them and a bus was coming quick in the left lane so i went to move over watching in my mirror and if my gf didn't yell my name i would have taken out my driver side on the car in front of me bc the decided to slam on the breaks. so i got on 2 wheels and slammed it in neutral and then when up on the other 2 then back to the passenger side rode that out into the ditch finally got back on all 4 and had just enough braking room to not hit a highway size light pole.

the bus and car stopped and i just took off bc i didn't know if they were gonna call the cops or what.

and thats what you get when you drive a little crazy with no sway bars lol

Knowing where your center of gravity is and how to counter almost going over will reduce your odds of a rollover dramatically.

Feels like **** when it feels like it's about to roll, but that's exactly why I take everything slow, don't have music on when I'm wheeling, and try to keep a level head. Pretty much every time I've ever felt like I was going to roll I've just stopped and taken my foot off the gas and let my Jeep simply roll (on the wheels, not over lol) and things tend to correct themselves.

Biggest problem I've seen people try is to just gun it and hope to get through an obstacle before the roll over occurs. The whole idea is not to keep the momentum into what ever is making your roll.
