Default Quick doorless question-just curious...

Hey guys,

So I see all you doorless guys cutting the hinge pin, etc etc. Why does no one just remove the 6 torx screws holding the door to the outer hinge? Is the door also glued/epoxy'd to that side of the hinge?

Allows for fast reinstallation of the doors. You dont have to fuss with 6 bolts, just line up the pins and drop the doors in.

Plus the bolts hold the hinge in place which allows the doors to line up and seal correctly. Not to mention they're an absolute pain in the *** to remove. You have to pull the fenders just to remove the front ones.

Easiest way I found was to drill them out, not from the top but the side . Start with a small bit and work your way up, you should be able to get it thin enough to snap with pliers

You just need the reinforced cut off wheels and go slow. I only used 4 or 5 on mine.

My door hinges are welded to the body so removing them would be more of a headache than it's worth. I may cut the bracket, but if I F-it up it will be a real pain to replace the hinge.

They're all welded to the body on the body side, but they can unbolt on the door side.

gotcha...I guess I should have known that. I guess I am just use to them all being bolted on like all my previous vehicles.

I believe mine have been rewelded as my doors don't line up and seal worth a flip.

no you dont. i was able to get mine out. i took my bolts out because it was easier then hacking up my hinges with a dremel, and i wanted to get rid of those stupid Torx bolts anyways. and an added benefit was that i was able to re-align my doors to seal better then they did before.
