I'm glad I bought a clean 2WD from a dealer in Tampa now. I didn't know how to convert to 4WD, but I learned and didn't have to worry about small jackasseries along the way.
bought mine as wholesale from a new car dealer... promptly found out the heater core was broken... and then I discovered the front seat bolts for the passenger seat were BROKEN!! Looks like it was rust...

I hope that XJ was free or you got ripped off...
I've seen junkyard XJs in better shape than that, damn.
I dubbed her "Ol Moletso" cause she's old and she's definitely been molested.

LOL Ya, technically it was free. Bought it with an insurance cash out when I was hit in my Liberty on the freeway. Paid $900 and I hope karma pays the PO's back! So far all I have left to fix is the motor mounts and the misfire.

Got $2000 for the cash out to repair the rear damage not a total. Straightened the exhaust at home and replaced one rear strut. Good as new. Honda went under the rear bumper. $900 went to the XJ and I've been JY scavenging ever since. Under $100 bucks so far in the repairs. Between the shop at work and friends with spare parts I've been fairly lucky as to what I've actually needed to buy.

A brand new cord to connect iPod to radio, original papers and adds still from purchase in 1989, air freshener (still fresh!) , 2 pennies, sub wires already run, and a rap CD that I broke in half and threw away! Hate rap...
Lets see:
Rear upper shock mounts were welded (fixed that)
About 14 cigarette cartons under the rear seat
Vice Grips
Random rusted and new parts for the Jeep
Ice scraper
10yr old first aid kit
Granola bar in the wrapper still
Touch up paint
Original window sticker
About 50 maps
